All in tips and tricks

TIME TO PACK YOUR RAVE BAG

I am a big fan of weekender bags. I have always liked having them, but since I started going to events for two or three days, I have really fallen in love with these babies. Packing your rave gear is always enough of a struggle without having to lug around a giant suitcase, which is why weekender bags are so perfect. You get enough space to comfortably put a few days worth of outfits without feeling like you are packing for a year-long voyage, and their smaller size also limits you and stops you from bringing non-essentials with you, which if you are an over packer like me, also has its benefits.

HOW TO AVOID HANGOVERS AFTER A NIGHT OF RAGING

So I am the champion at avoiding hangovers, but even I have unfortunately been hit with one or two on occasion. There is nothing worse than going a little too hard day one of a festival and then feeling like absolute trash day two. Yeah, you will recover but it is going to be a few hours of hell before you feel well again, and nobody wants that. I know everyone has there own little theories about how to prevent them, but it never hurts to try and gather as many in one places as you possibly can. Keeping that in mind, today I wanted to walk you through a few foolproof ways to avoid waking up with a pounding headache feeling like death after a long night of clubbing or raving.

CURVING PEOPLE AT RAVES AND FESTIVALS

Now that we have spent some time talking about finding you rave bae and hooking up with ENTHUSIASTIC CONSENTING PARTNER, I figured it was time to talk a little bit about how to curve someone at an event. Curving people at events or just, in general, is sometimes a necessary evil but that doesn’t mean we can’t all get a little bit better at it. When everyone is out looking for their ‘rave bae’ or (hopefully not) trying to find someone to go home with, there are bound to be a couple of people that will approach you, that you would rather just leave you alone.

HOOKING UP AT FESTIVALS

I figured this would be a good companion to the rave bae article (which if you haven’t read you should go check it out), because let’s face it, festivals tend to be one of those weird places where you let go of inhibition and are often kind of sequestered in a place with a bunch of strangers (some of who are super hot) for a few days with zero cell service, so things are going to happen. I

POST-FESTIVAL SICKNESS

I don’t know about you guys, but New Years kicked my butt. I was up at SnowGlobe in Lake Tahoe dancing for hours in below freezing temperatures, so it was no surprise when I woke up to the sniffles on January first. What started as the sniffles has now turned into a full-on cold which is why I wanted to take a little time to talk about the realness that is ‘post-festival sickness’ and what you can do to try and combat it, or at least make it a little less of a struggle to get through.

MAKING YOUR FIRST RAVE TOTEM

At a festival, it helps to have something that can be spotted over a long distance, easily and quickly. In the lead up to Snow Globe, my friends and I decided that we were going to make a totem so that we could find one another in the crowd. I wanted to share a little about our experience and some ideas to make sure your totem is not only super cool but easy to stop across a large crowd.

HOW TO RAVE IN PLATFORMS

I recently made the leap and bought a pair of Demonia Platforms. I had wanted a pair of these ridiculously awesome shoes for a long time, and I must say that they truly did not disappoint. They were even cooler then they had looked in the hundreds of pictures I had gone through before finally deciding to purchase them. It goes almost without saying that they are probably the coolest thing I have ever seen, but they are astonishingly comfortable, especially given the height of the platforms. However, when it came to wearing them for long periods, there was some work that needed to be done to make it a little easier.

DON'T GET LOCKED OUT BY 'SOLD OUT' FESTIVAL TICKETS

A few weeks ago Electric Forest tickets went on sale, and within the first few hours were gone entirely, much to the irritation of thousands of people who had wanted to have their shot at going to this amazing event in the summer. Scrolling through the comments on the Electric Forrest Instagram after the sell out was incredibly illuminating. There were hundreds of comments left by people who were unable to get a ticket, and one thing was obvious: they were pissed. So, I decided to put together a few little tips to ensure that this never happens to you again,

YOU SHOULD BE BRINGING PERFUME TO RAVES

You should be bringing perfume with you to raves (and clubs) for one obvious reason: it can get kind of smelly. Yes, hopefully, everyone is wearing deodorant, but even then it is pretty hard not to get a little stinky. Hours of sweating because of dancing to amazing music and walking around to see all of the cool installations and photo ops can make even the most sweat proof outfits a little grow. This is where having perfume on hand is a wonderful idea.

ADDING ACCESSORIES TO YOUR RAVE LOOK

Accessorizing is hard. Even when It comes to average, everyday looks, finding the perfect necklace, belt or really anything can become a pretty tricky guessing game. When I first started putting together festival looks, I would always struggle to find accessories to take it from a look to a LOOK. The hardest thing about dressing for a festival is that you need to find the right mix of style and function. Even if you aren’t big into dancing aggressively, you will still need to be able to walk, and hell if a real banger starts playing, don’t you want to have the option to dance without stuff getting in the way?

DITCH YOUR RAVE GUM FOR A LOLLIPOP OR TWENTY

Chewing gum gives you jaw something to do that isn’t clenching down like no body’s business. However, some people have reported that even chewing gum isn’t helping with the clenching and that the extra focus on working your jaw all night might actually leave you in more pain the next day. It is easy to see how, while preventing you from the pain of clenching too hard, constantly chewing could end up leaving your jaw exhausted, especially over the course of two or three days. That is where lollipops (and other hard candies) can come into play. If this sounds strange, let me explain.

FESTIVAL LOCKERS, AND WHY YOU NEED ONE

If you have been debating getting a locker for your next festival, I would highly recommend going ahead and doing it! It is incredibly useful, and even though it may seem like something you can do without, I can attest to the fact that it will enhance your festival experience. Until you have gone to an event and been able to ditch everything you didn’t want to carry, you haven’t truly been enjoying life to the fullest (no, I’m not even exaggerating).

BUDGETING FOR FESTIVALS

Budgeting for festivals can be a little tricky, especially when every event is amazing and you wish you could attend them all. However, if you really take the time to budget, you can save enough money to add festivals to your list, or even upgrade from GA to VIP at your favorite one. Sometimes the key is finding little swaps to make your trip a little more affordable, but mostly, it’s just down to being organized and planning ahead.

RAVING SOLO

The thought of going to an event by yourself is somewhat daunting. It’s easy to get so swept up in fear that you won’t have a good time because you aren’t surrounded by a group of friends, that you end up giving up on the whole thing and staying home. Most people act like a group is the secret ingredient required to make a good time, but really the only person that controls your experience is you.
