YOU NEED A FAUX FUR RAVE COAT
You need a faux fur rave coat. You may not think you need one, but you defiantly do. The faux fur coat is a staple of the festival fashion wardrobe for a few reasons, and as we move into winter (and eventually the early spring festival season) now is the perfect time to invest in one. A good fur coat is going to keep you warm at night when the temperature drops, but it is also a perfect way to make a boring outfit look amazing.
If you are broke like me and don’t really have the money to buy brand new pieces for your next event, having one of these babies on hand is a great way to dress up a boring black bodysuit that you’ve already worn to three different events. This is especially true if you get a coat that lights up like the ones sold by J Valentine, which I would urge you to do. I will caution that if you get a J Valentine coat that you size up, as they tend to run a little small.
While many brands sell faux fur hoodies and light jackets I would invest in one with LED lighting installed for a few reasons. The first is that though it is a little more on the pricey side, you are essentially getting two jackets for one. Depending on whether or not you are using the lights the coat is going to look completely different, which is pretty cool. Another reason is that these light up jackets also tend to be a little more sturdy. Because they have to accommodate electrical wiring the coat material itself is just a little bit thicker, meaning it is going to keep in heat a bit better. On a less practical note, the illuminated coats are just undeniably cool. They turn into a little light show when you dance and make you stand out easily in a crowd. They also photography incredibly well, so if you factor in Instagram pictures when considering buying something, these are a pretty easy sell.
If you are already sold on the idea of a fur coat, I would also recommend getting one with a hood. Yes, Club Exx and some other brands sell fur coats without the hoods that look neat, but in reality, if the wind picks up and it’s getting chilly, you are going to want the hood. Most of us lose a lot of heat through our heads, therefore if you, like me, tend to get the chills after an event, having a hood to pull up and hide under is a major must have. There is also something nice about having the option to put up a hood, even if you don't really intend to.
Length is one more thing to think about when it comes to getting your festival coat. I like a good cropped jacket because I can wear it in multiple temperature ranges and be comfortable. However, there is something to be said for longer length coats, especially if you are someone who tends to get very cold easily. Long coats can also be show stoppers if festival fashion is your passion. It is hard not to take notice when someone is rocking a long, light up fur coat, especially when it's pitch black outside. Length is very much a personal preference, so I would urge you to at least take a look at some of the longer options before you write them off completely.
Finally, when you pick out your coat, don't be afraid to get a crazy color. I recently purchased the blue J Valentine coat with green and dark blue lights and must say that I am incredibly happy I went with it over a simple white or black, fur hoodie. The blue goes with most of my festival wardrobe, and the lights are incredibly cool. However, I find myself looking longingly at some of the even more brightly colored coats available online. Basically, I would tell you not to be too worried about something being too much when it comes to festival fur coats. The whole point is to dress a little whacky and do what you want. So, if what you want is a rainbow, light up, floor-length coat, go for it.

LIGHT-UP AQUA TIP FUR CROP JACKET $115.50
Another stunner (and the J Valentine Jacket I own) is this aque light up, cropper fur coat. The giant sleeves are super fun, and the whole jacket looks terrific when the lights are switched on. I love the mix of blue and green light to give it a cool, two-tone look. The coat also looks impressive without the lights as the neon blue tinged fur looks like something out a comic book.

This one doesn't light up, but honestly, it doesn't need to. This Shop Space Boots x Space Island coat is an absolute stunner. The rainbow fur mixed with the long length makes it a technicolor dream coat to remember. It is about the same price as some of the larger J Valentine coats, keeping it's higher price point competitive.
